The title of Georg Haberler’s new work alludes to the “Je suis Charlie” meme as well as to the figure of Frieda from the postcard. Like hidden object pictures, his works invite the viewer to find their own stories between motifs spilling beyond the canvasʼs frame. Haberler thus evokes the curiosity and open-mindedness usually attributed to children, opening up a colorful world in which everyone is given a chance to escape monochromatic patterns and find common ground in individuality.
Georg Haberler (1985, Graz) is an artist who creates mixed-media paintings. He arranges bizarre animals, still lifes, and architectural structures in a playful, awkward manner—always on the verge of collapse. Haberler has taken part in numerous group exhibitions and had solo shows at Weserhalle, Berlin; Collaborations, Copenhagen; Fine Art Network, Vienna; and Åplus, Berlin. He lives in Vienna.
