Lucile Desamory

Untitledment (2023)

Lucile Desamory’s newly commissioned installation addresses the questions of emancipation and autonomy as a continuous artistic problem. The work’s title, Untitledment, describes her effort to create a not yet signified area: a terrain vague, a speechless, fluid space, oscillating between void and autonomous zone. The installation resonates with Desamory’s long-time interest in colliding, fluid memories and spurned narratives.

Lucile Desamory (1977, Brussels, Belgium) is an artist working with painting, drawing, embroidery, collage, photography, and her voice, which she combines for installations, films, radio plays, and live performances. She is interested in the frontiers of perception, in the “too much,” the falsified—the spurned narratives. Her films have been shown internationally, for instance at Tate Modern, London; Anthology Film Archives, New York; Fondation Cartier, Paris; and Kunsthalle Zürich, and she has had solo exhibitions at Kunstraum Düsseldorf; STUK Arts Centre, Leuven; and Kunsthalle Frisch, Berlin, among others. She lives in Berlin.
