In her new piece for steirischer herbst, choreographer Adrienn Hód explores how today’s resurgent rules, morals, and social norms affect our corporeal reality. Experimental church music singer Zoltán Mizsei embodies a voice of power that holds sway over a group of performers. In a darkly humorous choreographic language, Hód uncompromisingly mirrors a society increasingly alienated by its inescapable obedience to overarching figures of authority.
Adrienn Hód (1975, Debrecen, Hungary) is a choreographer specializing in contemporary dance and experimental movement. She dedicates herself to the quest for new dance forms in a playful and often provocative manner, focusing on the human physique in motion, stripped of taboos and prejudices. Hód and her company HODWORKS are a frequent presence at international festivals such as Aerowaves, Dublin; Biennale Teatro, Venice; Internationale Tanzmesse, Düsseldorf; Tanzkongress, Berlin; and Tanzplattform Deutschland. She lives in Vienna and Budapest.
