Exhibition

Utopia loses
The utopian
And becomes reality:
Everything will fall into place.

This exhibition focuses on worlds of thought and vanishing points that one designs while caught up in complex crises. Derived from ancient Greek, the world “utopia” (non-place) usually denotes something worth achieving. The counterproject can be found in Marc Augé’s non-places: functional spaces devoid of meaning, “places of the placeless.” Toward this end, we erect a memorial to inconsistency, a place of failed ideas—but also of those that will probably never be realized, because the impossibility of making utopias a reality is a central point. This graveyard of utopias is located between nowhere and no-land, between the ideal and the unattainable, and illuminates the tragedy of unrealizability. A place where utopias are buried—although a utopia is also buried when it is implemented.
