Eteri Nozadze’s newly commissioned series of works charts her encounter with Mira Schendel—whose work was shown in the Minoriten Monastery’s refectory in 1969. Nozadze discovered that Schendel had already visited Graz in 1944 to receive her papers. But then her research reached a dead end. Her drawings present a “river cruise” (Flussschifffahrt) through the streets of Graz, across lines taken from city maps, imagining Schendel’s routes through the city and her own experience of living here.
Eteri Nozadze (1986, Georgia) is an artist who works with drawings, installations, and (visual) poetry. She recently graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, and has taken part in group exhibitions at Galerie U 108, Munich (2022); Museum Villa Stuck, Munich (2022); and Casa Tineretului, Timișoara (2023). Nozadze lives in Graz.
